Tips



  1. Don't wash the vegetables after cutting as it will wash away the nutrients too.
  2. While cooking the vegetables, add a pinch of turmeric powder as it will remove the toxic elements present in the ingredients.
  3. To  retain the freshness of vegetables, add a little amount of vinegar in water in which they are washed.
  4. If salt is excess in a curry, mix a little amount of wheat flour & water and make balls out of it. Put these into the curry as they will absorb the excess salt in it.
  5. When oil gets over heated in a pan, soon the pan will catch fire. If it happens, cover the pan using a suitable lid. Don't pour water over the oil.
  6. While cooking in aluminium utensil, never use a metal ladle to stir as chemical reaction occurs. Always use a wooden one.
  7. Before boiling milk, wash the utensil with cold water. Then the milk will get easily boiled.
  8. For boiling egg, put the egg in water only after the water gets boiled. If not, the egg shell will break.
  9. Place cooker weight over the cooker only after making sure that there is no block for the steam to come out. Otherwise, there is a chance to explode the cooker.
  10. Keep the vegetables except tomato in airtight plastic bags and store in refrigerator to keep the freshness for long time.
  11. For smooth and soft dosa, add 1 cup boiled rice while grinding the mixture for batter.
  12. For excess amount of lemon juice, squeeze the lemon after slightly toasting it.
  13. Use a little amount of coconut milk for wetting the flour for steam cake instead of water for more tastier dish.
  14. For easy peeling of onion, spread oil over its surface and keep under sunlight for sometime.
  15. For chappathis to be softer, add a little amount of milk or curd while preparing the batter.
  16. For frying egg, spread vinegar on the surface of the frying pan to  avoid sticking.
  17. While cooking bitter gourd, add a little amount of curd to it to reduce its bitterness.
  18. To avoid forming lumps in rava(semolina) upma, saute the rava in a little amount of oil for few minutes and then prepare the dish.
  19. Spread butter over eggs before storing as it prevents from getting spoiled.
  20. For removing smell of fish or oil stain in a utensil, wash it with a drop of lemon juice.
  21. To prevent cut coconut from rusting, spread a little salt water over it.
  22. Sprinkle a pinch of turmeric powder onto green chilies to retain its freshness.
  23. To repel ants from sugar container, put a piece of cloves to it.
  24. If carrots are cut lengthwise rather than crosswise, it will get easily cooked.
  25. To reduce the sliminess of lady's finger, pour a little amount of curd while cooking it.
  26. While preparing jam, add a little amount of lemon juice for faster setting.
  27. Add asafoetida in chili powder container to avoid its rusting.
  28. While preparing tea, add small piece of orange peel into the boiled water for more tastier tea.
  29. Avoid aluminium utensil while cooking mushroom as it gives a black shade for it.
  30. To remove the stain of raw banana, put these in hot water after they are cut.
